I savored chicken & waffles (betrothed sweetly in maple syrup) with friends for the first time this weekend. I awoke to booming thunder on Saturday, leaving my apartment with the cool rain dripping and shiny on the leaves in my neighborhood. I caught a train to the East Bay to assist in baking a lopsided (but delicious) chocolate birthday cake. I played with other people's cats & dogs, blew out a fuse in my apartment, blushed and cursed a great deal, and finished my contributing post to 80 Minutes for Life. (It will appear later in the week). I worked on a deadline, lunched on aged-parmesan covered gnocchi and heirloom tomatoes, and tended to my small army of succulents. And this evening? I am left tranquil—I shall putter around, wiping dishes & hanging garments to the tune of Montreal-based Land of Talk's soon-to-be-released EP, Fun and Laughter. More on this soon, I promise!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend—& so another week begins.

Some Are Lakes was my favorite record last year. Criminally under-appreciated band and I'm glad to see them getting a little love here.

my weekend was great, thanks for asking.
And the cake was perfect in all ways, including structure. xo

waffles and chicken, chocolate cake, gnocchi parmesan? I'm hanging with the wrong people.
Great taste! And the Land o' Talk is delicious too!

I was terrified of fried chicken & waffles - looked at pictures online (immersion therapy!) before going with my friend for his birthday. Shockingly, it was DELICIOUS. Recommended.
