Sis boom ba—I just returned from my noon-time gymming session!
My body is a machine, dewed with sweat and I am losing minutes like buttons. If I get my permit (fingers crossed), I will be spending a few days this autumn hiking from the Grand Canyon's north rim to the south rim. I think it will be THE BEST THING I'VE EVER DONE—the pleasures of life are infinite!
Duly noted, it will be a challenging climb up & out of the canyon, so I must be as strong as She-ra within six weeks. (On second thought, I just saw a picture of She-ra and my training may require breast implants and an introduction to medieval longsword. Now there's a picture of unbridled gracelessness! Hm.) No matter. I am throwing my entire body into training—though improvement is coming along glacially. Patience, tall one, patience. The upshot is that I am ear-budded most hours of the day. I've started listening to Blind Pilot on my evening hikes into the hills—thanks for the reco, mister Blair bear. Blind Pilot's debut album, 3 Rounds and a Sound is acoustic, delicious folk pop and I am liking it more with every listen. It's simple & earnest. It's well-balanced. It's good.
My favorite song is the album's title track, "3 Rounds and a Sound," for 223 deeply personal reasons. Paired with this image ... ♥♥.
Aw.
Portland-based Blind Pilot have been opening for The Decemberists in a smattering of cities all summer. Happily, they will be performing at San Francisco's Outside Lands Festival on Friday before they kick-start another tour with The Low Anthem. Try to catch them if you're feeling anti-silversun pickuped—they are both playing at 4:15.

3 Rounds and a Sound (Daytrotter) - Blind Pilot | UPDATE: Their live daytrotter recording is even lovelier!
ps. O, and in case you were wondering, Brent Knopf was great last night. I bought a soft, bright green Ramona Falls t-shirt from Brent before the set commenced and I wore it to bed, happy & aglow. I will most likely wear it to bed again tonight because I am a blushing super fan and my name is Liz!!!!

awwwww...pretty.

Um, Liz, you can never not blogging because then I'll have to go out and find my own new music. And that's just not going to work for me.

A few things:
-DAMN! The good ol' 21+ problem stopped me from attending last night... my roommates were gonna go but decided not to at the last minute because it was too late.
-The Grand Canyon has hikes like that? Sweet!
-I'm finally living in the city, I just started school at SFSU Tuesday. College is crazy stuff. :)
But if you're ever up to meet for lunch/dinner or something in the city, it'd be cool to chat music and things. Just throw me an e-mail/text. I think you still have my cell-o number.
Good luck training!

No Roger, you are pretty.
Jill, this blog exists for you. I am glad you don't think that's weird or anything.
And Brendan, we should definitely hang out. I will email next week when I am back in town and my deadline has passed!

And too bad I missed them at Outside Lands, damn! I must have been far too distracted by the uncontrollable anticipation of seeing The National at 5pm on Friday at Outside Lands.
