My favorite Broken Social Scene song has always been "Lover's Spit." It's gorgeous and bold and romantic (even though the lyrics are ambiguous and suggest contrary themes). It's the sort of song that you sway & slow dance to, cheek to cheek, lip to bitten lip—stopping everything and taking his hand, mid-way through preparing dinner. I've always preferred Kevin Drew's version over Leslie Feist's subsequent re-imagination, but when Leslie's vocals filled my studio as I cosied with a book this weekend, my heart shivered. I listened to it four more times before closing my book and turning off the light in wonderment—falling asleep in sighs.

You miss, have amazing taste in music. I was just on one of your other blogs and found myself obtaining at least 3/4 of the songs on the playlist you masterfully crafted. Idk much about these blog websites, but I think I need to read up on yours pretty regularly now.
p.s. Feist is fast becoming one of my favorite female vocalists. Mushaboom is where it all started, and her version of Lover's Spit is simply gorgeous, much like Drew's original.
So finally, thanks =)

I wish they'd make another too - though I've been very pleased with Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning's "solo" affairs.
And thanks for the compliment, Joren! I've always been esp hard on female vocalists for some reason, but Feist sounds incredible here. Love Mushaboom too.

This has always been one of my favorite love songs, one that finds you dancing to with your lover in the middle of the kitchen floor on a late Friday night. I definitely identify with the line, "You know it's time that we grow old and do some shit." I probably favor bss's version more often because it's a little edgier, but Feist's rendition is quite nice.

I’m back! I wanted to recommend a couple favorite music blogs that you may or may not know of: Owl and Bear and Muzzle of Bees. Both great blogs, in my humble opinion, and both have a weekly (or semi-weekly) podcast with great music available on their site for download or listen.
