Step one, tidy up and remove myself from these lounging quarters.
My to-do list, this fine Sunday:
What the mind wants: Time to slip on my cozy wool cardigan and rain hood. I am heading to ocean beach for a seaside stroll. I lived in the Sunset neighborhood of San Francisco a little over a year ago, and I miss the pacific ocean more than anything else—especially when it's chopped up, silver-streaked & romantic on wet, windy afternoons like this one.
What the eyes want: Bolts of pretty fabrics to sift though. San Francisco's four-story fabric mecca, Britex, is closed on Sundays, so I'm going to check out the peapod cloth shop in the inner sunset district instead. I hope to find the perfect fabric for my kitchen curtains.
What the mouth wants: Drizzled olive oil, cheese, thyme and porcini mushrooms, broiled & paired with a heel of warm, crusty bread. Delicious. The dinner question has been solved—right after I head to the little grocery store down the road.
What the ears want: "Ballad of Wendy Baker," a new tune from singer/songwriter Ben Kweller's latest album, Changing Horses. I streamed the entire album at my desk on Friday and enjoyed it enough to be pulled away from what I was doing. Some have described his reflective ballads as rather obvious "tear in your beer" tunes—& that there's plenty of this stuff around already. Yeah, Changing Horses doesn't really offer anything new, but time-honored molds are still around for a reason. His simple, country grit is appreciated by simple, plump-hearted girls like me. It's well-executed.
